Gargoyle Study: Maggie The Cat by evollusive Gargoyle Study: Maggie The Cat by evollusive
I love felines. I love Gargoyles. I love the concept of genetically-altered humans. So of course when the Gargoyles episode "Metamorphosis" came around, I was quite awestruck by the Mutates. If I ever were to be a gargoyle, I would probably want to be a mutate. So much awesomeness! My only gripes: what happened to the tails they initially had? I like tails :( And hey: what's up with those silly "electric eel" powers? Not a fan of the defibrillator hands; that just seems so..."God Mode" or something. Like being a super-strong, winged cat-person wasn't good enough, they had to throw in electrokinesis. Weird.

Gripes aside, Maggie of course was the female of the group. Blonde, tawny colored and probably based on a lion (or just a yellow cat, for that matter), she sort of evolved from a scrawny, rough-drawn winged cat-girl in "Metamorphosis" to this elegant-looking, Venus-like matriarch in later episodes. A nice improvement, I thought. Though I think they changed her voice, and I was sorta attached to that cute scratchy-throat voice thing she had going for her. Meh, oh well :/

Yeah me too! I really liked her look and that she sort of evolved from this frightened girl to this strong Gargoyle; those mutates certainly had a neat story and character design :)

Awesome pic of Maggie! She is an old-time favourite of mine too, both appearance and personality-wise. Always felt for poor Brooklyn - Maggie never seemed to realize he was into her.

And yeah, it was odd how the mutates did not have tails.

Agreed: I thought she was a lovely character that really deserved more screen time! And YES, poor, poor Brooklyn; I always felt so bad for him; it's hard to be rejected, be you human or gargoyle  Thank you for the kind words :)

You are welcome. :)

Thankfully, Brooklyn did find a mate and a family ina  time-displaced adventure that took place in the official comics written after the show ended. Still, I quite liked that dark future story too where she and Demona ended up together... after all, he was attracted to her in quite a few episodes.

Yes I heard he ended up with a rather cute Japanese beaked gar-girl, Katana; good for Brooklyn! :) Though I never did read any of the comics and stopped watching the cartoon after season 2 (perhaps a good thing, since season 3 wasn't supposed to be any good?)

Yeah, the Goliath Chronicles... is best forgotten. The comics  are actually how the story was supposed to continue, according to Greg Weisman. The first episode of S3 is unchanged, but it all gets much better from there on. They even made a spin-off series called "Bad Guys" which has some villains (Fang, Dingo, that japanese Gargoyle who betrayed his clan) being reformed into a strike team.

Nice picture. The way it's explained in the wikia is that after the left in "Metamorphosis" their bodies continued to mutate some more and they lost their tails and their appearance changed to how they looked in "The Cage"

Thank you kindly! And yeah, I noticed in the wiki they had an "explanation" for why their physical features changed so drastically :P While they may have decided to change the look of the mutates for the TV show, at least they were creative enough to come up with clever reason...gotta give 'em credit for that!

Oh, WOW! She looks so lovely and you capture her personality very well.
You did awesomely with the hair, pose and those wings are for dying for.

Although I like the Mutates idea and concept, I still prefer the Gargates  And I agree with you about adding the electric powers: not only it was unnecessary but is also not very logical, if the Mutates need the eel electric skills to gather strength for flight, is illogical use to use it as an external power for which it can be gathered. More strength more time flight. But that's just my humble opinion.
And yes! I did noticed about the missing tails, like you I love tails :P
