Gripes aside, Maggie of course was the female of the group. Blonde, tawny colored and probably based on a lion (or just a yellow cat, for that matter), she sort of evolved from a scrawny, rough-drawn winged cat-girl in "Metamorphosis" to this elegant-looking, Venus-like matriarch in later episodes. A nice improvement, I thought. Though I think they changed her voice, and I was sorta attached to that cute scratchy-throat voice thing she had going for her. Meh, oh well :/

And yeah, it was odd how the mutates did not have tails.
Thankfully, Brooklyn did find a mate and a family ina time-displaced adventure that took place in the official comics written after the show ended. Still, I quite liked that dark future story too where she and Demona ended up together... after all, he was attracted to her in quite a few episodes.
You did awesomely with the hair, pose and those wings are for dying for.
Although I like the Mutates idea and concept, I still prefer the Gargates And I agree with you about adding the electric powers: not only it was unnecessary but is also not very logical, if the Mutates need the eel electric skills to gather strength for flight, is illogical use to use it as an external power for which it can be gathered. More strength more time flight. But that's just my humble opinion.
And yes! I did noticed about the missing tails, like you I love tails
Gargoyles are so awesome, I want to be one D:
I'm sad! I never won a costume contest. I mean, I barely even wear a costume. I hope to dress as a Creepy Doll for Halloween, but I think that's not going to happen.
Wow thanks much for the nice thoughtful reply! Always good to have a nice conversation about Gargoyles with another fan
I really dig Claw as well, and always figure that if I were a mutate, he'd be the mate for me haha He's actually on my "to do" list of gargs to draw...
And yes, tails...those pesky tails! It was probably Tigra or Feral who alternated between being tail-less and having a tail haha
I've honestly been waiting for someone to pick up the slack and do Maggie's metamorphosis themselves, but nobody ever has. She's kind of like Mona Lisa in TMNT in that regard, both in the fact that they were both interesting characters with which not enough was done, the fact that they both metamorphosed off screen, and the fact that the fan art community has failed me in filling that gap in
It's possible that the Gargoyle Mutates might eventually develop a bat's ability of echolocation, as well as an electric eel's ability of electrolocation and/or electrocommunication.
Outlining is a nifty little trick I just very recently learned and I must say, I quite like it! I'm sorta weird when it comes to backgrounds and often prefer a character to stand alone, so the outline certainly comes in handy for a character-centric person like me! Here's how to do it in Photoshop:
*Select the layer you wanna outline (may have to select and cut/clear the background first)
* Go to the menu at the top and select the "Layer" tab, then -->Layer Style-->Stroke
* Play around with color, size, and style of the stroke; it's a pretty easy little trick that gives art a little extra bit of polish
